Now that you’ve created your page it’s time to share it and start to see the donations roll in!
Before you share your page, write a compelling message about why you’ve created the fundraiser, which charity you’re passionate about, and how you’d love for them to back you. Don’t forget to include your Thankful page URL.
Now you have your invite message and link ready, you can now share it.
This could be via:
• Email
• Text
• WhatsApp
• Social media
• Company intranet
Email is always a good method. Facebook is also an obvious choice too as you're connected to friends there.
People may be more inclined to back you when they find out the unique nature of your Thankful page:
• You receive free e-card credits to use with every donation
• No monthly fees are charged to your charity to receive funds
• It is entirely optional for them to leave a tip when donating
It’s good to warm them up to the idea first. So you could way “Hey everyone! Just a heads up I’m participating in X event for Y charity next month. Time to start training…”
Then when you’re ready send out your main message, include the link to donate.
Closer to the event or activity you can send an update out which reminds them you’re doing this and that they can back you.
Obviously don’t pester people but getting your message across a few times instead of just one ask is more effective, if possible.
If more people than just you share your fundraiser, this can create a snowball effect of both further sharing and donations.
Depending on the nature of your fundraiser, you may be able to gain press coverage. If for example you were raising money for a local charity, or running a charitable event in your area, local editors may wish to cover your efforts. Or if your fundraiser is vastly exceeding the expected amounts raised, your story could be of interest to national newspapers.
Your fundraising page will automatically top up your e-card volume balance with each £1 donated. So you can send multiple e-cards to those who back you.
You might have sent everyone a printed thank you card. By sending e-cards you're helping the planet too.
