About Sense Scotland

Sense Scotland works with children, young people and adults who have communication support needs, and their families. These needs arise from a range of disabilities including, but not limited to, deafblindness, autism, sensory impairment, learning or physical disability, often against a backdrop of complex health care needs.

What we Do:

We support families to understand, communicate with each other and thrive; we help children grow and develop to their full potential, including learning innovative ways of communication and self expression, building confidence and skills to become young people and adults with choices and opportunities.

We provide a range of supports and services including community and day living support, short breaks and supported living. We have developed TouchBase community hubs in Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Ayrshire, with ambitions for one more in Dundee. TouchBases are bespoke buildings in the heart of local communities, designed to meet the specific needs of people with disabilities and communication support needs. They offer access to expressive arts, music, drama, social groups, community cafes, physical activity, sensory gardens, peer support, parent/carer networks, consultation groups, volunteering and work opportunities and much more.
