About BRINOS
BRINOS (the Britain-Nepal Otology Service) is a charity dedicated to the prevention and treatment of deafness in Nepal. It was founded in 1988 after a meeting by the founder with a Nepalese ear surgeon. Deafness had been identified as the single greatest disability in Nepal but the only surgeons were in Kathmandu and unable to tackle the enormity of the problem. BRINOS has performed 69 ear camps treating over 8000 patients and has trained local health workers in the recognition and early treatment of ear disease. We have also trained local health workers in diagnosis of ear disease. They have screened over 1 million patients, identifying disease and deafness and signposting the path to treatment.
