About SOS Silence of Suicide
SOS Silence of Suicide is a national charity founded by Michael Mansfield KC and Yvette Greenway-Mansfield, dedicated to breaking the stigma, silence, and shame surrounding suicide and mental health.
The charity was established following the tragic losses of Anna, Michael’s daughter, and Ian, a close friend of Yvette’s—events that inspired both founders to create a safe, compassionate space where open conversations can help ensure that no one suffers in silence.
Our core focus is to provide free, confidential support for anyone affected by suicide through our freephone helpline – 0808 115 1505. Our trained team offers a safe and understanding space to talk openly and honestly, while also helping to de-escalate those experiencing suicidal thoughts or emotional distress. We further support prevention and awareness through our OPEN Conversations free resource, which aims to reduce and ultimately eradicate the feelings of shame, stigma and silence that still surround suicide and mental health—so that no one feels unable to say how they truly feel.
