Friends of the Animals Friends of the Animals was founded in 1990 with a simple mission: to protect animals and support the people who care for them. Our work is practical, compassionate, and community-focused, and includes:
>Spay and neuter programme – we have helped fund the spaying and neutering of over 46,000 animals, preventing unwanted litters and future suffering
>Rescue and rehoming – we help rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome thousands of animals every year, giving them a second chance at life
>Pet food pantry – providing vital support to families facing financial hardship so pets can stay healthy and at home
>Wildlife support – assisting local wildlife with rescue, treatment, and release back into their natural environment wherever possible
>Veterinary assistance – in 2025 alone, we paid £395,000 in veterinary bills, saving countless animals from suffering and destruction
>Support for people in crisis – helping homeless individuals, elderly people facing hospitalisation or bereavement, and families in difficult circumstances to care for or rehome their beloved animals with dignity and compassion
At every level, our work is about being there when animals — and the people who love them — need help most.
